Thailand Yacht Show confirms two-show format and 2022 dates

Organisers of the Thailand Yacht Show have confirmed its 2022 edition will take place in two parts, with the first half confirmed for April in Pattaya. The second half will take place at a different venue in Phuket in December.

In an announcement confirming the news, show organiser Verventia says the Thailand Yacht Show 2022 will be the first boat show in southeast Asia for over two years. The pandemic has forced much of the region into a series of strict lockdowns since early 2020.

The 2021 edition of the Thailand Yacht Show was postponed due to the pandemic. A new competitor, the Thailand International Boat Show (TIBS), had been scheduled to run in Phuket in 2022. However, organisers announced in December 2021 that the inaugural TIBS event is postponed to 2023.

The first part of Thailand Yacht Show will take place at Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Pattaya, and will focus on production yachts with a focus on the domestic market. Organisers say they will include “as many superyachts as are available in the area.”

Special features will include the refurbished Ocean Marina Yacht Club, a diving exhibition, live sailing and boating experiences plus sea trials on high-quality charter yachts. Organisers say they have 22 yachts booked in, and are expecting over 50.

The second part will take place in December at the beginning of the next high season, with exact dates and location to be confirmed. Verventia says the show will similarly cover the whole industry, but will have a major focus on the fleet of foreign-owned superyachts that are expected to arrive from November to spend the winter chartering in Thailand.

Verventia confirms that there has been widespread interest in the shows so far, including from buyers based in Bangkok. “The two-show format will make the Thailand Yacht Show bigger, more representative of the whole of the industry, and far more easily accessible to visitors from all over Thailand, as well as to exhibitors from all parts of the industry,” the company says.
