The Sydney International Boat Show has announced its official partner lineup for the 2024 edition. The four-day event, scheduled for 1-4 August at the International Convention Centre Sydney and Cockle Bay in Darling Harbour, will feature a combination of returning and new partners. The show will feature more than 600 boats on display.

Transport for NSW continues as the ‘Partner in Safety,’ while Century Batteries, GMSV Australia, and Walcon Marine Australia join as first-time official event partners. Ocean Media will serve as the show’s media partner.

Sally Webb, deputy secretary for safety environment and regulation at Transport for NSW emphasises the event’s importance in promoting water safety as part of the Maritime Safety Plan 2022-2026, which aims to achieve zero fatalities and serious injuries on navigable waterways in NSW by 2056.

Webb comments: “For the millions of people each year who spend time on NSW waterways, safety should always be front of mind. Transport for NSW is proud to be once again partnering with the Sydney International Boat Show to host the Boating Safety Zone, a one-stop shop for information on how to have a positive experience on the water by making safe decisions. Boating is an enjoyable and accessible activity if you’re doing it safely, including wearing a lifejacket and carrying the correct safety equipment.”

GMSV is set to debut at the show with a display-themed ‘Live Big. Truck It,’ showcasing three new MY24 variants and highlighting their towing capabilities for various watercraft.

In a notable addition to this year’s event, the Melanoma Institute Australia has been named the official charity partner. CEO Matthew Browne says: “We are delighted to be a charity partner for the Sydney International Boat Show which will put sun safety front of mind for thousands of boating enthusiasts.

We have the highest melanoma rates in the world, with one Australian diagnosed with this potentially deadly form of skin cancer every 30 minutes. The sheer number of hours spent outdoors in the sun, combined with the reflection of UV from the water, makes boating a particularly high-risk activity in terms of sun exposure. We are urging everyone at this year’s show to ‘get onboard with sun safety’ and give it the same importance as other life-saving safety measures when out on the water. We thank the Boating Industry Association for its ongoing support in helping us reach our mission of zero deaths from melanoma.”

The Sydney International Boat Show is presented by the Boating Industry Association Ltd (BIA) in conjunction with event delivery partner Mulpha Events.

BIA president Adam Smith highlights the significance of the show over the past 55 editions, noting that last year’s event generated AUD$345 million in economic output and created 980 jobs for Sydney.
