men shake hands after discussing Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show's (SCIBS) successes

Now in its 35th year Sanctuary Coast International Boat Show (SCIBS) has recently expanded, boasting an increase from 180-200 to over 320 boats this year. . . and there’ll be spots for 20 or 30 more next year, says organiser and show director Johan Hasser. He cites this year as one of the best in terms of scale, quality, numbers and industry engagement.

“The last five years have seen incredible growth. We’re one of the few shows in the world that’s kept growing. . . . We’ve kept engaging with the industry and seen an incredible expansion of the show, particularly on the water.”

In this interview, Hasser says that’s because of its strategic positioning at the heart of Australia’s boat manufacturing hub. Plans for future expansions include enlarging the marina to accommodate more boats, and underscoring a commitment to innovation and visitor satisfaction.

Hasser says the show’s unique as it owns the whole property. “That helps with our flexibility. . . . we are at the heart of boat manufacturing here . . . Riviera Maritimo and Telwater are here at the epi-centre of boat manufacturing.”

He also says that exhibitors praise the show for its quality audience, indicative of a growing interest in boating among attendees. “People are serious when they are here. They are looking for their next purchase or experience.”

The 36th Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will be held from May 22-25, 2025.
