Gary Travis - Boatshed Norfolk

Gary started working with Boatshed in September 2006 and is the business owner of Boatshed Norfolk, however he also helps out in the neighbouring county with Boatshed Suffolk.

Before deciding to take the plunge with Boatshed he worked as an
Automotive Mechanic and spray shop and a HVAC Buildings Surveyor

Gary had a great time in the summer of 2019 when he was moored off the beach at Great Yarmouth, wading to shore for a picnic on the hottest day of the year in his Maxum MX 1800 bowrider. Another one of his experiences was having a rope wrapped around the prop on Breydon water, losing the tide and getting beached. He had to wait until the next day to resume but at least at low tide he could free the prop.

He loves to go boating in Croatia and the furthest he's travelled on a boat is Cyrpus to Egypt. This was in great comfort with another 100 passengers but it's still time on boat!

When he's not working Gary loves restoring classic motorcycles from the 70's and building a replica AC Cobra.

Fun Facts about Gary...

  • He loves to snack on a cheese and piccalilli sandwich
  • He likes a tipple of Krudenbitter (Dutch)
  • His favourite colour is red
  • His first pet was a rather vocal male Siamese cat called Sid (Sidney)

If Gary travelled to a Desert Island he would like to end up on Joali Island in the Shaviyani Atoll Maldives, arriving on a Sunseeker Predator. He would enjoy reading HMS Unseen by Patrick Robinson or maybe "How to survive on a desert Island" by Jim Pipe may be of more use! He'd like to listen to Rumours (Fleetwood Mac), Dark side of the moon (Pink Floyd) and maybe a little listen to Leonard Cohen's greatest hits.

Finally we have all been restricted with our travel movements over the last year, however once we are able, Gary would like to take a trip to the Canaries.
