Maritimo fleet offers Dockmate wireless remote docking system

Dockmate says is now partnering with Maritimo Americas to offer advanced wireless remote control docking systems as an option on all Maritimo models.

Using a handheld wireless device, the Dockmate system enables captains and crew to operate engines, bow and stern thrusters, anchor winches and horns from any location onboard. This capability allows for greater control and visibility during docking manoeuvres, enabling operators to take command from the best possible vantage point, away from the helm. 

Tom Jagucki, Maritimo corporate captain, says: “We have been using a different wireless remote control, and then a client introduced us to Dockmate.

“I was very impressed with the customisation capabilities of the DockControl software. We did a sea trial and adjusted the amount of throttle to the owner’s exact specifications. Moving forward, we will offer Dockmate as an aftermarket wireless remote control option.”

Each system comprises a wireless handheld transmitter which can function as joystick systems at the helm and feature wireless charging capabilities. The waterproof, floating transmitters aim to ensure reliable two-way communication. 

Dockmate’s technology includes the patented SoftDocking system, the ThrusterHold feature launched this year, and the Dockmate Positioning System, recently recognised with an NMMA Innovation Award at the Miami International Boat Show. 

Two distinct Dockmate remote options are on offer: the Twin model for more conventional users and the Twist for those seeking a joystick-like experience. 

It’s been a disruptive few months for the company. In April this year, the then MD of Maritimo, Tom Barry-Cotter, resigned after revealing that the company — founded by his father — was moving in a direction he was “not comfortable with.”
