The Isle of Wight Distillery, producers of high quality and hand-crafted spirits, Mermaid Gins, Mermaid Salt Vodka and Mermaid Spiced Rum, has announced a three year partnership with Prometheus Sailing, a yacht charter company based on the South Coast.

The Isle of Wight Distillery is also confirmed as the sponsor for The Sail to Reward Regatta, a new event bringing teams together from the hotel and hospitality sector.

As part of the ongoing three-year partnership with B Corp certified Isle of Wight Distillery, Prometheus Sailing have renamed one of their one-design Jeanneau 410 charter yachts Mermaid Spirit, which will fly a new spinnaker with the Mermaid branding.

Mermaid Spirit kicked off its summer yacht racing campaign last month competing in the annual Drinks Trade Regatta. Showing huge promise, the boat and crew, comprising of a team from drinks distributor, Matthew Clarke, were competing against 13 other teams and over two days and seven races they finished in a very respectable third place.

Prometheus Sailing have delivered corporate hospitality events and team building activities for over 30 years and their fleet of yachts, moored in Port Solent on the South Coast, will use the award-winning Mermaid Spirits in all events. Those taking part will be treated to Mermaid Gins on board and the opportunity to taste all Mermaid spirits at pre-sail and after-sail drinks when chartering Prometheus Sailing yachts. Mermaid G&T’s will be served at all welcome parties before any Prometheus Sailing regattas and Mermaid will be the after-sail drinks serve during Cowes Week Regatta for all Prometheus Sailing charter yachtsmen. Successful sailors will take home a bottle of Mermaid Gin as part of their prize.

The Isle of Wight Distillery is  also sponsoring the one-day sailing regatta, The Sail To Reward Regatta on 19 June. Staged from Ocean Village Marina and the Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa with the spectacular, modern fleet of Prometheus Sailing 41.0 yachts, the regatta promises a great day of yacht racing whilst raising valuable funds for the Room to Reward Charity. This unique volunteer-recognition charity was created to say ‘thank you’ to the Hidden Heroes, the inspirational volunteers who give up their time to make a difference to those who need it most. The winning team of The Sail to Reward Regatta will be awarded the Mermaid Trophy, kindly sponsored by Mermaid Gin.

Simon Boulding Managing Director at Prometheus Sailing said, “we are delighted to be working with The Isle of Wight Distillery and excited about this three year partnership. We are both brands that are environmentally conscious and want to make a difference. Through this partnership we will look to educate the yachtsmen that charter our boats throughout the year on the importance of protecting our UK waters.

Xavier Baker, co-founder of Isle of Wight Distillery said: ”we are honoured to be partnering with Prometheus Sailing and to have a boat that carries the Mermaid name is a fantastic accolade.  As well as introducing those who charter boats with Prometheus Sailing to our spirits collection, we also hope to educate them on how best to protect the waters around the South Coast and minimise waste and harm to plant and marine life.”
