Peter Pembroke with Seton Lewis of Lewis Marine, Tasmania

Highfield Boats Australia has named Lewis Marine as its exclusive dealer for the Tasmania region.

Lewis Marine, located 15 minutes from Hobart, is a family-owned business established in 1956 and now operated by the third generation of the Lewis family.

The dealership, which operates from a modern facility situated in an industrial estate near Hobart Airport, represents several well-known brands, including Quintrex, Cruise Craft, Extreme Boats from New Zealand, Yamaha engines, and now rigid inflatable boat (RIB) manufacturer Highfield Boats.

The showroom is supported by a service centre with 12 staff members, four specialising in marine mechanics and engineering.

Seton Lewis, the general manager and third-generation family member, has a background in marine mechanics and watersports, having completed a marine mechanic apprenticeship before taking over the management of the business.

“We have sold the product and know that it is a high-quality and in-demand brand for RIB tenders and day boats,” he says.

“Tasmania has so many waterways and cruising grounds so the opportunities for tenders, fishing boats and day boats are immense. Highfield has a huge range of tenders from 2.5 metres to RIBs up to 9 metres that are so versatile you can use them for any watersport and family day boat.”

Peter Pembroke from Highfield Boats Australia adds: “Lewis Marine has strong ties with local sailing clubs and boaties, and offers world-class service and support to customers.

“Boating is a huge pastime in Tasmania and it’s the host venue for the finish of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, as well as being a popular charter destination. We can see great potential for growth for the Highfield brand in Tasmania with Lewis Marine’s connections and appreciation for the brand.”

The news comes shortly after Highfield Boats confirmed its new EJET330 electric jet tender is now in production. It’s powered by an electric jet propulsion system, developed by New Zealand’s ZeroJet. The technology and design is the result of two years of collaboration between the two companies.

Highfield has expanded globally in recent years, and signed four new dealer partners in the USA earlier this year.
