Hisham Abushakra

Heesen Yachts has announced the appointment of Hisham Abushakra as its market agent for the Middle East region.

The Dutch shipyard says, with a career spanning over 20 years in the yachting industry, Abushakra brings substantial experience and in-depth knowledge of the Middle Eastern market to his new role. He will focus on supporting Heesen’s presence and growth in the region.

The Middle East has become an important market in the superyacht industry, known for attracting clients with a preference for luxury and exclusive yachting experiences. The region’s interest in leisure boating, coupled with its unique destinations and affluent population, has driven demand for premium yachts. Heesen Yachts aims to strengthen its presence in the Middle East, aligning its services with the specific needs and preferences of clients in the region.

In his new position, Abushakra will serve as a link between Heesen’s shipyard in Oss, the Netherlands, and clients across the Middle East.

Abushakra will collaborate closely with Ruud van der Stroom, Heesen’s newly appointed chief commercial officer (CCO), Mark Cavendish, executive commercial officer, and Robert Drontmann, sales director.

Cavendish says: “We are delighted to welcome Hisham to the Heesen family. Together we will forge strong relationships and create a network to facilitate successful sales and further elevate Heesen’s presence in the Middle East market.”

Hisham Abushakra comments: “It is a great honour to join Heesen as a brand and become a member of their team. Heesen’s esteemed image and strong reputation among Middle Eastern yacht owners present significant growth potential in the region. I am excited to lead Heesen’s sales efforts in the Middle East and aim to achieve remarkable results in the coming days, months, and years; looking forward to building a long-lasting strong relationship with Heesen.”

Last year, MIN reported that construction was well underway on Heesen’s new YN 20555, codenamed Project Serena; the vessel remains on track for its November 2024 delivery date.
